SRX VS. ZR 800 Cross Country

Postby Pacman » January 13th, 2002, 12:13 am

I had a 01SRX700 (put 4000kms on it) and now I have a 02ZR800EFI with only 25 miles.
It seems to me that the ZR pull a little more down low (first 400') but I can tell that the SRX has more juice when cruising at 70 mph and hit the trottle!!!
As far as top end, I can't tell as my ZR still new (break-in period)...
but I'm sure the SRX is faster if properly jetted!

Yeah usually a Triple has about a 100cc more power than a twin. Example, a 600triple can run over a 700twin. 700 beating an 800 in this case. An extra piston does a lot in the HP department. I also think they run a lower gear ratio in most triples too.

It's not so much that the extra piston gives the extra HP, it's the extra 2 pipes that give it the extra.

Also the shorter lake racer suspension on the SRX has much less drag (aero and friction) at higher speeds than taller mogal masher suspension on the ZR800cc.__________DREW

My '01 SRX vs '01 ZL 800 ESR was a toss up depending on who got the start. The ZL was studded and had some mild clutchwork. This was on a lake with a few inches of fresh powder. Unfortunately, this was last year. I have no stories to tell about this year!!!!

like previously mentioned, the SRX is a lake racer and the ZR a mogul masher....BUT, with the suspension tuned in the ZR has the umph to hang with the 700 triple Mach 1s...which is enough to edge off them Blue Piles of Crap. Come play on the trail, then we'll see who's left in the dust........HEEEEEHAWWWWWW

I agree with Xtreme XC, Im asking, ZR 800 vs Viper 700 single pipe, the story will not be de same, The Viper,"is suppose RAM-AIR" better be wide open!!!

SRX running good on hard coatting lake, but just put 6" of powder and is speedo gos down!!
