AHHHHH NO CHIT! S&S Venom

Postby MXZinger » August 19th, 2002, 2:05 am

I was catching up on the snowmobile news and checking out the main topics and read about the new Venom by Blade. The sled is using an S&S V-Twin. How the hell are they going to work a bike engine in a sled? This will be interesting.

I will be putting a new S&S or T.P. Engineering 124" V-twin in my bike next summer. These engines put out 140 HP. It should be a screamer. I'd leave it for the bikes though.

yes, I heard something like that from a drunken friend of mine on Saturday (although at the time I had no idea what he was talking about), he said.. special edition Blade with a Harley motor in it...
he also said that he knew someone who works at Harley Davidson that rides a snowmobile, and he (the guy from Harley) "wouldn't buy a $24,000 sled"
by the way, exactly how many cc's is a 124" engine?

true that mtntank! you'd think if they were looking for a v-twin to use, they'd have called American Honda for an RC51 engine (maybe one of Nicky Hayden's 2002 race engines for a prototype), or a call to Suzuki for a TL1000. if they wanted something exotic they could have sourced a Ducati 998 or an Aprilia Mille motor. too many Harley engines on the trails and they'll be coated with oil... also think of all the Blades that would be broken down on the sides of the trail on your Sunday afternoon ride. I can see it now, a guy with long hair and a scruffy beard wearing a rebel flag bandana with tools strewn in the snow, fixing his Blade while his buddies smoke their cigarettes and look on.
maybe i'm stereotyping too much? sorry Willy G. I mean no disrespect, really you have a fine product there. think if I order a Harley Blade now I could have it for 2006?

I can't help myself.

The Venom uses a 4x4 motor, which is 1600cc. The thing has awesome torque. If you read the latest Snow Goer they said it had true direct drive!! No gear reduction other then the clutches. S&S is NOT a harley. They are alot better engines.
