I use to work w/ a guy by the name of Sam Heaton('69-70 Vietnam vet) from Alabama when I was in the fishing industry.
We spent a November day together in Chicago at a trade show... At the end of the day out of the blue I shook his hand and I said "thank you for being a vet, by the way". He laughed and said, "dam boy, you have no idea what that means to me."
He went the whole day amongst freinds that never mentioned a word of thanks and he was taken back by a 30 yr old punk like me with those simple words. It means a lot. Both my father and father-in-law are Navy vets. God bless Sam, Jerry & Mike and the rest of you. You are bigger men than I am.
Thank you-

To all the Veterans here on this board, I say "THANK YOU" There are a couple of guys that I work with that are Veterans and when I see that they are having a bad day I have told them thank you and it does really make them feel good to hear it.

Many people take for granted what happens in a war unless you're there, then you will never take freedom for granted again. Don't forget that of the men and women who didn't go to war, they guarded the homeland while we were on the front. Their burdens were heavy also during wartime because they had more to tend to here, hardships in families created by the loved ones leaving to answere the call of duty. I salute America!....
