Im guessin somewhere between 2 to 3 h.p. But throttle response is increased, better gas mileage and mid range is smoother, and pulls stronger.

If u add them on a 500 or so there will be no power gains, maybe lil better throttle response, the 500 just doesnt pump enough air in and out for the need of higher flowing reeds, on the other hand if u put them on a 700 on up sled u'll notice more of a difference due to more airflow through the motor. how big is the motor ur thinking of?

There is no across-the-board rule of thumb to say how much power there is to be gained by ANY mod... Reeds probably demonstrate this best. Some sleds show a measurable inprovement, maybe not in peak power but throtte responsse and rideability, some show little if any gain. The guys who design engines nowadays don't usually leave a whole lot on the table that you can gain simply with a bolt-on mod. Get it clutched right for YOU to find your biggest seat-of-the-pants gain.

You can gain some with reeds, but a finely tuned pipe will probably be more noticeable. Read this guy's explanation, he's pretty sharp.

WELL I HAVE 2 PHAZERS ONE IS A 1988 WHICH IS A 440 AND THE OTHER IS A 1991 PHAZER 2 480. THE PHAZER HAS A AAEN SINGLE PIPE, BOYSEEN REEDS, AND WEISCO PISTONS AND I SWITCHED THE PIPES ON THE PHAZER AND THE REGULAR PHAZER STILL PUTS MORE POWER. BUT YESERDAY I WAS MONKEYING IN THE GARAGE AND I ADJUSTED THE THROTTLE ON MY PHAZER 2 AND TURNED THE IDLE UP CHANGED BELTS AND GREASED THE CLUTCH SO NOW IM GOING TO TRY IT TODAY.
