Depends what motor etc. On Speed channel last year they ran all the good old cars and the Boss 429 won over all. I was lucky enough to live that era and they were all fast.

Just what OCR said, depends what motor. The muscle car shootout was done by Legand Motorsports. Fastest stock 429 I've ever heard of. If you go through the internet (and even seen it posted in "old mustang" books) it ran low 14's (not really any better than the boss 302).

None the less, the 429 is a sweet car, my uncle has a red 429 boss with 8500 original miles, it just sets in the garage.

I have a friend with a 66 VW Bug that could beat'em both but his is not stock.
That Mustang was not only faster but alot better looking.I never cared for the Round body GTO'S I always liked the 66 and 67 body style.Either way both were better looking then the plain jane Chevelle ss.I never cared for that either.

Had a friend in highschool who had a Buick stage 1,those were pretty fast too.She screamed and ate up the streets.Fun to drive i forget but i think it was a 4 speed.

M1M, I agree, the '66-'67's are way better looking than the '68's and up. I don't care fore that body style either. My cousin has a black '67 396 SS fully restored... she's a beaut!

When I first got my licence at 16. Waited till 17 to buy my first car and ordered a brand new 1972 Boss 302 White/Black. The dealer took my grandfather to the side and told him the kid will kill himself with that car. So I had to change the order and talked him into a new 1972 Blue/Sliver Mach 1 351 cleveland with 4 speed hurst. After I had the car a while I put crome slotted wheels G60s front and L60s back with lake-wood traction bars. Then put in Straightline MR.Gasket shifter and 780 dual feed double pumper holley carb with high rise. I wish I still had that car also I forgot add I paid $3400.00 brand new!!!!! (Later)
