I just got my American snowmobiler magazine and there is an article titled "Top Trail Blasters". The put 4 sleds head to head. The ZR800, MXZ800X, The 800XCSP, And the SXViper. The final scorecard read like this:

RIDE AND COMPFORT
ZR800 8.0
800XCSP 7.2
MXZ800X 7.4
SXVIPER 8.3

HANDLING
ZR800 8.8
800XCSP 7.2
MXZ800X 7.4
SXVIPER 8.3

ERGOS
ZR800 8.1
800XCSP 7.8
MXZ800X 7.6
SXVIPER 8.1

PERFORMANCE FEEL
ZR800 8.4
800XCSP 8.0
MXZ800X 8.1
SXVIPER 8.3

SERVICE ABILILITY
ZR800 7.2
800XCSP 7.0
MXZ800X 7.6
SXVIPER 8.2

SLED APPEAL
ZR800 7.6
800XCSP 7.4
MXZ800X 8.1
SXVIPER 8.9

GRAND TOTAL
ZR800 8.0
800XCSP 7.4
MXZ800X 7.6
SXVIPER 8.2

FINAL WORD
"Every one of the four sleds we tested-was a fun sled and was definitely up to the challenge of rough trails and tough scrutiny of our test riders. Each machine had something that stood out in our post-test debriefing session. But only one sled could be called a winner, and that sled was Yamaha's Viper."-American Snowmobiler

By looking at the test scores, I would say the Yamaha and Cat guys are going to have the most fun this winter. Oh yeah, there was another quote that was actually my favorite. "You had to figure that when Yamaha got serious, it could knock out a sled that would excite the masses-and our grizzled test crew. We're excited because Yamaha has taken all its best pieces, refined the ever-living details into them, and put them all together in one of the finest snowmobiles we've ever ridden. We don't say that lightly."-American Snowmobiler
Kind of makes you want to buy a Viper, doesn't it. LOL

Was that add out of American Snowmobiler or Yamaha Snowmobiler?
Those were just testers opinions and I don't base any decision on opinions except my own!
How do you figure the Yamaha and Cat owners will be having the most fun when us Ski-Doo guys will be walking all over them?
Besides don't you think everyone will be having fun as long as the snow is on the ground?
If you're not riding a Ski-Doo, might as well stay home!

WHAT DOES ''PERFORMANCE FEEL'' EXACLY MEAN?ITS SURLEY DOESNT MEAN THE FASTEST SLED DOES IT.AND WHERE DID THIS TEST TAKE PLACE AND WHEN DID IT TAKE PLACE?ARE THESE PRODUCTION SLEDS?THESE SURLEY ARE NOT THE SAME SLEDS IN WHICH THE CONSUMER WILL GET,AS THESE WERE SURLEY ALL PREPPED BY THE MANUFACTURER.TELL YOU WHAT ILL WAIT TILL SNOW FLIES AND THEN ILL GIVE YOU REAL TEST RESULTS ON REAL SLEDS.

I admit it!!! You guys are right! The test MUST have been performed by old farts! Because if they would have been able to push the sleds to their limits, the Viper would have scored 10,0 in handling.... And yes, the sleds probably where pre-prod units. The Vipers will of course be EVEN BETTER when we get them! I must also admit I want to try a ZR with the coupled skid, I think it is a much needed improvement.

Not that graphics make any difference on how a sled performs but Im amazed they called the Viper for best graphics when it looks like the work of a "tagger" (a jobless teenager with a can of spraypaint) did the work. Im serious thats the first thing I think of when I see that sxviper on the hood.

I read what they say in the mags! if I am to believe what I read, then, this is what I have to say:
If Polaris ever quits making a triple/triple, and ski-doo dont get rid of the CK chassis, ill be riding a d**n Artic Cat! Sounds like the T-cat has it's act together! But I am in love with my great riding XCR8!!!I just need to loose a few pounds!!Doo's out dated chassis in the triple/triple line up needs to go! my bud is buying an M10 in hopes to make his ski-junk, handle half as good as my XCR8! HIS WORDS, not mine!!
So if the mag's say the viper is king, it must be!!Still dont under stand the hype, a triple against the twins! The edge should go to the viper, plus from what I see it looks coool!
But as I always say, lets wait till it hits the snow to find out IF it will live up to the HYPE!!

That is what I have been thinking too. So what if the viper is a triple? And is a 700cc machine? If it beats the 800 twins it may just be the ride for me. But I am not sure about its handling in the rough at 60+ mile an hour.
Na i'm done with you, your to much of an ass for me!

Your on a need to know basis and since you never come out here you don't need to know....
