Triple Triple comparison in Amsnow

Postby Xtreme XC » August 22nd, 2001, 11:10 am

I was checking out my new American Catmobiler mag today and was attempting to figure out what Amsnow did with their staff recently. In the article of the triple triples they rated the T-cat 1st, XCR 2nd, SRX 3rd and Mach-Z 4th. I don't have a problem with the way they ranked them but when I looked back at my Oct '99 issue of the triple triple 800 article I noticed that they ranked the XCR 1st, Mach 2nd and ZRT 3rd.

1st off, they called the 2 season old Gen II chassis "out dated" while the Mach-Z, SRX and Cat's chassis have been out and relatively unchanged since '98?? The Gen II is the newest chassis of them all! And how does a old chassis like Cat's move up to the top?? Just because of the $400 suspension upgrade? And with the ranting and raving of the SRX being "so powerful" and "tight, flat handling" it's only placed 3rd just above the "Ill handling" Mach-Z? I'm not saying that the XCR should've been ranked 1st or anything but it just doesn't add up.

I guess it's kinda like the meaning of life, it's something we'll just never know.

I agree Xtreme XC,

These fricken magazines are so inconsistent!

It's kind of like the Blair Morgan watch...who ever pays you more, you go in that direction. I think it's the same with the yearly stories...pay us more, we talk you up more.

Right, Bud?

It seems to be that way Cman. Personally I like Snowtech the best. I have subscriptions to both Snowtech and Amsnow.

So we all agree, it's time for a mag to print what we think, not what the advertisers want us to think. Anybody out there make a mag that prints what the people thinK???????

Wouldnt it be nice if they would also put in some negative comments, instead of all good one's, that way we would see the honest replies!

My Polaris is a blast

In reality, the GenII is a re-skinned Indy platform. Polaris tried the "all-New" approach with some new stickers and a new hood. As far as the CAT chassis, it's still the one to beat. (Polaris has made it the foundation of thier Pro-X program!!) CAT has added a new "SS" suspension, rear coupler blocks, better fit-n-finish, and a host of ergo updates that makes this sled above all. Plus, with the "Worlds biggest" stock sled engine, which gives it the rights to the "Worlds fastest stock sled" title, why wouldn't it be pushed to the top. The DOO needs to get rid of the CK3 though.
