The voltage regulator controls the current going to lights & accessories, and should have no effect on wheather the sled has spark or not...... I really rather doubt it's anything serious...something just isn't hooked up right...BTW Ryan, why did you pull the engine out to do a top end, anyway?

Okay ed. I'll take your advice about it not being the voltage regulator. I got a new one anyways.

I was thinking that maybe the killswitch is screwed. Checked the wires and there all fine. Then there's the ignition to the electic start. Maybe something aint right there.

The next time i ever do it again the motor wont be coming out. Wouldn't have had any of these problems if i left the motor in the sled and rebuilt it.

The sled is in the back shed ed. No lights, cold as hell, I figured I would be better off doing it inside. I guess not.

I still have a hunch it's this mag thingy inside where the fan belt is. There is this little magnet thing and i putt it back on where the original marks were on the metal. I don't know why it was taken off in the first place, but it was. The guy at the dealer said that this magnet thing on the mag has to be set up with some special light to get the timing set up properly. Whatever he's talking about i don't know. He said if the mag was taken apart then he need to do that. The mag wasn't taken apart. Only the little magnet thing was taken off.

If i can't figure out what it is soon,
Dad has the same setup in his sled. Different motor (500f) but everything else under the hood is identical. I'm just gonna start taking his apart and compare everything.

Oh yah, i ordered a nice 12.5 inch black cobra windshield for it with checkered flags for $100.00. Much better than that 2 peice 19 inch one. Geesss!!

Ryan, unplug the kill switch and the ignition switch as part of the diagnostic process. Also, you didn't mention whether this sled has TPS......if that's off, it won't run right, but I don't believe that it could stop the machine from having spark all together. Trace all wires from the mag to the wiring harness(s) to make sure you might not have inadvertantly pinched a wire when you put the motor back in. It would be a bunch easier to diagnose this in person, but we'll help you out as much as we can.

Oh, and the special light thingy is called a Timing light, basically it's a strobe light that flashes when the ignition fires, allowing you to see that the appropriate timing marks on the backing plate and the flywheel and/or button rotor lign up.

There is a God ED!

I went threw the whole thing today. Couldn't figure it out. So i decided to take the cover off for the mag thingy. I took dad's off to. And, guess what i saw. That little magnet thing, well, i had putt it on backWARDS!. I turned it around, measured it all up. Hooked everything back up. Turned it over and the bastard fired!! So i putt the plugs in, primered it twice. Turned the Key(oh yes, she's got electric start..hehe) And the son of a b***h fired right up and runs beautiful.

The bastard runs like new. Thank God!!!!
