Another "Dumbing Down" story

JACKSON, KY -- A Kentucky hunter thought he had bagged a pretty fine deer.

Now he'll be paying a pretty dear fine.

Randolph Stidham was so thrilled with the big deer he shot that he drove it around town on the back of his pickup.

Then his friends told him the bad news. He'd shot an elk -- an endangered, protected elk.

Wildlife commissioner Roy Grimes says the hunter faces up to $8,000 in fines and a year in jail.

Grimes says an elk is about four times the size of a deer. He says "if a person cannot tell the difference between an elk and a deer, they should get rid of their firearms."

Can you guys/gals believe this?!! It's scary to know that there's these kind of idiots out there hunting. Maybe I won't go "black powder" (muzzle load) deer hunting this weekend...I'll just go sledding the whole time. Hey! I should be doing that anyway, right?!

I hear the gene pool down there in Kentucky is alittle shallow. I've always said that if you cut the Southern half of Indiana off and gave it to Kentucky the average IQ for each state would increase dramaticaly.

Another "Dumbing Down" story

Well... I dunno if it's getting worse. According to stories from old guys I know, back in the late sixties or early seventies, some texan came to town to do some moose hunting. He asked all around town about some good places to hunt and then headed out, by himself. Lotta people laughed when they heard he wasn't gonna at least get someone to guide him, but back then Moose were weren't exactly "endangered", and he knew that. Well, as the story goes, he came back into town bragging up the fine animal he found only 5-10 miles out of town, which suprised alot of people. Of course, upon inspection of this "fine animal" by the locals, it turned out it wasn't a moose at all. It wasn't even a wild animal. As it was quickley pointed out to him, it was some ranchers poor horse!

I've heard it enough times, it must've been true!
