I have always locked up my sleds when we stop along the trail. I just bought a new lock for my pro x but i have noticed that most people leave there sleds just sitting there. One of the guys I ride with doesn't lock his up. He says "who cares if someone is going to take it, they will take it. And that is what insurance is for." I dissagree I think when you have a lock on the sled it just sends the scum right down the line to the guy who has his sh!t just sitting there. And as for insurance, thats a major pain in the azz. and you never get what you have into it. Plus how do you get home that night? lmao YOU AINT RIDDING ON THE BACK OF MINE!

vinn, I agree with you. Insurance on a stolen sled will make sure you will lose at least one month of precious trail time, maybe more. How do you lock up your ride when you stop for grub or whatever? Seems to me a cable is a lot harder for a theif to cut than a chain.(all those little wires don't agree with a bolt cutter) Best of luck, Snoguy

Where do you ride?
I lock my sled either to the motel or my truck,
but only at night when I'm sleeping or gone away from it (can you say casino).

Must be a real bi*ch to be that paranoid.

Any theif with half a brain aint gonna steal a peice of junk like a pro-x anyway. LMAO...........

I never lock em up, either do any of my buds!
Couple years ago, my Storm was stolen, it was modified with an Xtra 12 rear suspension, and a BLT front susupension, plus some go fast goodies.
It was recovered 2-3 weeks later, stripped down to the chassis.
It took the insurance company 2 1/2 months to pay me. I did go out after they recovered it and obught my XCR800. So I missed little time in the saddle!
The insurance company officially questioned everyone I was riding with, and had me do 2 depositions, and at 1 point had the court reporter leave, then they said'COME NOW MR MORRIS, WE KNOW YOU HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE SLED COMING UP MISSING, YOU HAVE ALL READY PURCHASED A NEW ONE, TELL US NOW AND WE WONT PROSECUTE!
I said f**k off, got up and walked out, next day they settled with me!
Week later, i pulled all my insurance from State Farm, screw em, they tried screwing me!

Red isn't that the plain truth with all insurance companies. They want there money yesterday but when something happens they drag there feet and fix it halfa$$ed. Kinda like a bad dealer, it really ticks me off, but whats a man to do.

Sled on, b-safe, and most of all; CATSROCK! yeah baby!!

I use a similar technique ... I never removed the Polaris stickers from the trailer when I bought it (Used) ... That way my Cats are safe. No one would have any reason to want a Polaris. ;-)

Last year, I went on 2 extended trips. One for eight days and one was 6 days. At some point during the time I was staying at the hotels, there were sleds stolen ... so ... I always lock up the sleds whenever I am going to be away from them.
If it's gonna be a short timeframe, I'll use the cable (1/2" x 6' Kryptonite). If it's gonna be over night, I put them in the trailer. I even lock the wheels of the trailer with those bars that go around the wheels.

My insurance company couldnt replace my sled even if they wanted to. ITs an xc800sp 2002 in sonic blue - polaris isn't gonna make anymore the same so i would be screwed.

On that note - any other polaris riders check out the rpm limiters with keypads yet - its in the polaris catalog. Allows you to start the sled but wont let the rpms get high enough to engage the cluth unless you punch in your code. I am trying to find out if you can just unplug it like the key system - if so it is worthless. My dealer has had one on order to check out for me for 2 months and still nothing.
Recently I was asked to play in a golf tournament.

At first I said, "Naw, I haven't been playing that well."

Then they said to me, "Come on, it's for handicapped and blind kids."

Then I thought...

Chit, I could win this!

There is a place I stop at every once in a while called the Castle Rock Bar in Minn. In 1999 I think around 40 sleds got ripped off. The azz whips (4 guys and a truck) would just pick em up and throw em in the back of the truck. So thats why I use a cable and lock. Last year the Castle Rock bar put in a friggin camera that covers the sled parking lot. They put the monitor where every one can see their sled. I think they only had 2 or 3 sleds stolen last year. That camera is sweet. I wish every establishment had one!

We never used to lock our sled up at night until we were up in the GreenWater region(in Saskatchewan). It's not a big community but the people right beside where we were staying got both of their sleds stolen. They were locked up but did not have covers on them. Ours were not looked up but had covers on them. They did not get far. The sleds were recovered the next day... raped around around two different trees. At another place my buddys 86 Chevy wheel chair van got stolen! Thats bullsh!t in my books. A wheel chair van for god's sakes!!
