Viper bleeds green

Postby ZR800Racer » December 23rd, 2001, 9:26 am

My dreams came true just in time for Christmas. I got to tow my buddies Viper back after it spit out all its antifreeze and cooked itself. Do Vipers has a self destruct mode built in? After the temp light came on, the thing wouldnt shut off with the key or the kill switch. He choked it to kill it, but it was too late. Something let loose, there was antifreeze all over under the hood. We had a group of 9 people riding, 4 ZR800s, 2 MXZ800s, and 2 MXZ 700s and the Viper. Against popular belief, the Cats did not leave any parts on the trails nor did they have the cowl up broken down. One of the MXZ700s recoil went to hell(seems to be a common thing with the Cats, Polaris and Ski Doos this year). You guys know anyone looking for a Viper in the NY area? It will soon have a new motor dropped in. Only 138 miles on the chassis. Slide rails and ski saddles are painted blue and it has a Chrome windshield and 192 studs. My buddy has already been to the Cat dealer looking for a real sled.

ZR800,you must real be slow the way you make up stories. I'm sure that Yamaha will take care of your buddy better then Arctic Cat will take care of my bud's with problems.

I know when I had an arctic cat in 1996 they acted like jerks to me... I would never go back to them a*****es!!!

When my wifes 01 550 Super Sport's handwarmers broke they fixed it no questions asked and i didnt pay a thing! Maybe its because I've spent about 13,000 on snowmobiles in the past 2 years!!!???

Lets use the "typical" cat guys excuse here. It was the dealers fault and didn`t prep it right! Did your buddy find a "real" sled at a cat dealer? hahahahaha I have never seen a "real" sled there and there was lots to choose from. Get your digs in now as I`m sure that alot more cats will be towed this year than Yamaha`s.

I love it, you clowns keep defending that over hyped TURD. My buddy sounded like a Viper ad, he talked more smack about that sled until a group of us raced a few weeks ago. He tied a ZR 600, got beat by all 700 and 800s. Then he started saying wait till we hit the trails. First ride was Friday night, he and another guy with a 02 ZR800CC swapped sleds. He didn't want to get back on the Viper after that, He never knew a sled could handle the bumps like that. I honestly felt bad for him. We went back out Sat and that's when the s**t blew up. He wants a ZR800 CC real bad now, I think he should ride the MXZs before he does(everyones tastes are different). I've had great luck with my Cats and the Warrantee work and turnaround time has been excellent! All you that say you've had trouble with warrantee should find another dealer! We will find out how Yamaha treats their customers real soon.

Good dealers and bad ones. A lot of dealers that don't treat a person right must have more money than they need hence the poor attitude. I must have lucked out and had good dealers but some I even knew with CAT had a take it or leave it attitude. I'm still waitng for the zr800 vs mxz800. Did they beat you???
