Tug Hill Tips from TS March 16th Tues 9:30pm

Postby zr800newyork » February 26th, 2004, 1:34 am

Goofed a little got my forcasted temp mixed up a little.
Here's the corrected highs:
Friday-- 32 Saturday--38 Sunday--41
I got looking at "city" temps always higher than the hill!
Light traffic on the hill has made for excellent grooming.
Cold nights will continue all below freezing. Snow totals
have stayed the same last 3-4 days. 19" Boonville and on the
hill HiMarket has 33"...compared to last year we have 7"
more on the ground and 186" have fallen. Farther North
Barnes Cornors received a nice 6-8 inches beginning of
the week and SnoPals have everything groomed= both groomers
have been out doing a fine job! Only ten degrees this morning
in Barnes Cornors and a good 3 and half feet of snow.
Partly cloudy Sat and mostly cloudy Sun will help hold our snow.
Be careful- you probably heard another death on Rector Road-
Syracuse man in his 30's hit a tree around 1-2am...and some
youngsters got hit by a car crossing RT26 at Constableville.
Both injured seriously... we need to be careful.

Tug Hill Tips from TS March 16th Tues 9:30pm

Postby LT1 » February 26th, 2004, 6:28 am

Thanks for the info! I live in NJ and ride the hill since '98. A friend and I were deciding if its worth coming up this weekend due to the warm temps but I think you just convinced me to take the trip. Any suggestions on what areas/trails may be in the best shape Friday thru Saturday night?

I just registered and this is my first post/reply

How big of a % is the rain monday night/tues... sure hope it doesnt rain alot then freeze, that will not be fun for my 1 5/8 track....Ill be in touch the closer we get...Thanks-Adam

I found everything good to excellent all day Friday and traffic
very light. The cross over to Brantingham was like mid summer bare
dirty road 1.2 miles only real bad part! The guys from Rochested must have done a couple hundred miles..I think I helped wear them out...
five in their group. Good time...I sat in my office Saturday and today
wish I was out there...I'll gather a report in the morning about the
coming week...looks like new snow by Thursday..fingers crossed,,,
we covered north road, plummer, Mekay, rr bed, sportsman, flat rock. montague, t-view system to Brantingham and back to the edge.and they
did Redfield to camp without me...great temps and smooth trails!

Hit around 50 Tuesday and down to around 32 last night,
Wed cooler around upper 30's Thurs also. Lows in 20's.
Friday and Sat are a concern looking at 40's and rain or snow?
Off the hill the snow took a huge loss 14-16 inches turned into
7-8 on the level. On the hill not as severe HiMarket measures
27" on the ground. Doubtful any grooming has been done- riding will
be a challenge this weekend to put it midly.

So......Last night it hit lows of 19 degrees and today Friday it will
go in the other direction,, high of 44 and low of 34...Saturday
at 7am it'll be around mid 40's amd by 7pm it will be down to 39 and by sunday 7am you'll see it at 21 degrees. It's not all doom and gloom
Today chance of some light rain and warm in the high 40's /low 50.
the HILL has 24' of snow reporting form Hi Market and the cam at Barnes Cornors shows the same- sith bare spots surrounding it!
Osceola to Sportman trails are fair to good, Sportsman around rr bed
fair some good some bad spots... Roads around Himarket SHOT!
Southern Tug Hill main corridors are getting beat ...gettin gover to Flat rock Main trails Fair to "BAD"....you gotta know where to go.
Crossing over to Brantingham- only if you put wheels under your skis
or plan on ruining carbides. Leaving from the Edge- nada...there are
spots to trailer to and enjoy the 2-3 feet on the 'Hill"...I'm up for a Saturday ride any takers?????? I'm up for a Saturday night party!
All fair weather riders may apply...hehehehe TS

ps- expecting snow Saturday night about a inch or less...we'll see!

Trails on tug are shot. corners are all mudd, stumps rocks, some trails have water al the way across the trails. on the "hill" there is no 2-3feet i duno if he was being sarcastic or what but the fields are full of water, no grooming what so ever so id say forget about it this weekend and dont bother wasting the time and especially GAS prices are goin sky high. dont put ur sleds away just yet thou may get some more snow. if we get some real cold weather it will freeze some of the water and then we need snow so will see
