Tug Hill according to TS...March 1 !!pm

Postby gyaw » January 7th, 2005, 7:55 am

I live in the Binghampton area and want to get my new sled out. This is my first sled, an 2005 MXZ 600SDI and I am wondering where to go this weekend. Did the snow you mentioned ever materialize? Let me know if it's worth making the trip. Since this is my first machine and I'm new to the sport, I'd like to get to know my way around the Tug Hill area I've heard so much about, any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Just back from the hill... enjoyed Jay. Jeanie. and Steve from Nazareth, PA and finally hooked up with Kitty Killer- Dish by Fish HIMSELF.... the one and only! Damn if I can remember the other three
guys ...Gary and ??? sorry..maybe because no one rode a Cat and those other brands just didn't get my attention- maybe :)

The 97 miles I put on were super... today. The Base was holding just about everywhere and the new snow that came down for almost four
hours was a blessing! What did we see today maybe ten sleds?

Hope you folks enjoyed the railroad bed and the back way into Brantingham on the other side of Tug Hill... we visited the spot of "straight down Steve's " mishap and real nice dinner at the Pine
Tree...

Everything was nearly flat except the North road over to Talbots cornors but that's nothing new- it could use grooming of some sort.

Good people = Good times! thanks folks.

How about that accordian on the wall nearly a 100 years old?
The owner Scott can make that place interesting!

TS, Just want to say thanks again for the "backtrails tour" and the laughs. The riding was way better than I expected after reading all the "gloom and doom" reports on here. I went up to the Flat Rock Inn with mind-set that if I was able to get 30-50 mi on I would be happy. Boy was I suprised when my odometer read 129mi.!! I've been riding Tug Hill for 10 years now and thanks to you was able to ride trails I never knew existed. It was truly a pleasure to finally meet you and look forward to hooking up with you again. I know you say those other sleds didn't impress you but I saw you eyeing up those REV's... :)
What's yellow snow taste like ???

It's anyones guess how much damage today and tomorrow will have on the "hill"......the weather stations reporting south of the hill make it sound like Florida....the weather stations reporting north of make it sound a little better,,,,,,so I'll go with that...
Thursday high 40's low of 21 and Friday high of 24 low 8 with "some"
snow forecast......today wednesday we started with 6" still in Himarket and "limited grooming" a couple days ago......yea?
the high temp for the all next week are not suppose to reach 20's
and lows are all single digit.....snow showers everyday...
NOW let's not rake me over the coals if it doesn't happen and if it
does please give me all the credit :)

YES ..riding the hill is in my plans....
