Tug Hill according to TS...March 1 !!pm

Postby zr800newyork » January 13th, 2005, 1:31 am

Thursday 8:30am

Wednesday put .43 inches of rain on the hill AND 3/8 inches of ice.
Lost half of the snow down to 4" in Himarket. (southern Tug Hill)
Weather Station by Watertown calls for a high today of 50 and Lowville temps nearly 55 and lower elevation around 60!

Friday we'll get back to 20 degree highs on the hill... snow is forecast but no one dares say how much my guess is 1-3 inches total
starting late tonight. We've received 55" year to date and to hit our average of over 200" IT'S GOT TO START SOON!!

I'll post as soon as it does.....everbody get outside and dance...

Friday 11:15am......as expected yesterday hurt the hill.

At 12:30am last night it was 59 off the hill and on the hill at 1am
the temp. was 30......unless you were there its hard to believe. That didn't help much due to the igh temp of 52 on the hill andrain melting the snow almost completely! Yet......wait... the cam at Barnes Cornors shows almost 6 inchces of snow on the ground at 11am today.....should we call it superficial covering? Probably.

The low teens, single digits every night will help hold what we get.

Early morning snow gave Himarket .3 of a inch...today maybe 1" and tonight 1-2" and Saturday 3-5" and temps in the low 20's..hard to call
what we'll get off Lake Ontario...forecasters call for snow "showers"
"flurries" and "scatterred" just every day for a week.....so???

I'll let you know as soon as it starts! I want out there like you!

Hey TS, I'm supposed to be heading up to Montague on Tuesday. I know things don't look great now but according to the Weather Channel you guys are getting snow throughout the weekend and Monday, but no mention of accumulations. Have any idea what they expect?

The little bands of lake effect have a lot of people guessing. I know
for a fact Barnes Cornors is now just over a foot of new snow.

I know Lacona/Osceola areas picked up 15-18 inches. In case you don't know whre that is is the other side (west) and north of where I usually ride. They say Flat Rock road/trail is fair, and around Barnes Cornors is best obviously. Now how far that snow got into southern Lewis county is the question???????

Hear there were still some water/wet spots left on the railroad bed
but after the single digit temps tonight that will be cured.

I'm gonna check around in the morning and make my mind of about a ride... a couple more inches tonight will head me to my sled :)
