SRX Hydralic Brake???

Postby duncn70 » April 6th, 2006, 2:16 pm

Does anyone know where I could get a Hydralic brake to bolt right onto the hold bracket on my SRX? Do any other Yamahas have a hydralic brake that will bolt in place? Thanks, Mike.

SRX Hydralic Brake???

none that i'm aware of. yamaha loved using cable brakes on the majority of their sleds for years. the centre to centre distance for bolts on the srx brake caliper is small. i ended up building a stainles steel D shaped mounting bracket and bolted that to the chaincase then bolted a Hearst Airheart caliper to the bracket. i tipped that set up with a willwood master cylinder and a stainless steel braided hose. the system works much better that the stock cable brake plus it is much safer.

pm me your email addy and i will shoot you a couple pics of it, if you wish.

SRX Hydralic Brake???

The 72 SRs had a hydraulic brake, right? It used the same master cylinder as one of their bikes, and can't really remember the caliper. I don't know if this would bolt on to the SRX or not? Likely won't pick one up cheap?!

I removed my SR292 chain case and hydraulic break set up. Converted to the lighter Exciter chain case. Made my own bracket and bolted a honda motorcycle single piston caliper onto it. Used a resivor and lever from a 2002 SXR yamaha. - just stuff laying in the local salvage yard

SRX Hydralic Brake???

I cant recall which bike it was, but it was the front brake. Bolt pattern width was the same as the chain case I used. Just had to mill out a spacer block between the case and brake. Had to make another spacer between the caliper halfs. Pretty simple stuff
