Unifilters

Postby degasus » August 21st, 2006, 1:37 am

Hi, I am converting a 1982 ski doo citation 4500 to an SS. I do not have a dual airbox so I was thinking about using unifilters. Do I need to rejet even tho the stock airbox didnt even have a filter inside it? I was thinking if anything that the unifilter would restrict more air then the stock airbox because it has to suck threw the filter. And I need to know if a 6 inch long filter on a 10 degree angle would clear the jackshaft. Thanks

It will make it run richer and a rejet will be needed.

unifilters will alow more into the motor than the stock airbox setup.
more air will make it run leaner, not richer.

well I will see then. It says in the catelog that jetting changes are mandatory for most models. Plus the airbox just slows the airflow probably by a bit since its gutted (no filter)

just put them on and check it after a run. There's a good chance you won't have to do anything to it if it still has the stock jetting. Stock jetting is safe, after you take the airbox off and put on filters it may breath a little easier, but your jetting wil most likely be really close. If a change is needed, it will probably only be a main jet change. As at high rpm is when the carb will notice the pressure change the most. The main also has a small effect on upper midrange tuning as well and should do the trick without changing the needle.

oh great, so I may not even have to do anything. I will just increase the size of the main one size higher to be safe. Thank you for all your help.
