'80 Kawasaki Crankcase Drain plug

Postby h2onsnow » February 10th, 2006, 1:46 am

Does anyone know if there is a drain plug in the crankcase of an '80 Intruder 440. I have looked and cant seem to locate one. I'm trying to avoid pulling the motor out to drain oil that was put in to protect the bearings.
Thank you.

'80 Kawasaki Crankcase Drain plug

I bought the sled for $10.00 w/ one bad cylinder, The guy had the jugs removed already and put injector oil in the crankcase and wrapped the motor in plastic to keep out debris. Dont ask why, I dont know. The oil is still clean, I dipped a straw down between the counter wieghts. But I purchased two jugs and pistons. I checked the crank tolerances, there within specs. I just need to know if I can drain it, vacuum it out or do I need to remove the motor and dump it out.
Any input is appreciated.
Thank you.

There is no drain. I would pull the motor and change the crank seals, they are probably the reason it melted down.
