Engine dies out!

Postby Yamahadude70 » February 6th, 2006, 11:09 am

The engine on my yamaha bravo runs fine for about 3 mins. then it bogs out and dies. if i wait an hour it starts up fine and works for another 3mins. i had the jug off and noticed a biuldup of fuel in the bottom of the crankcase. i thinkthe engine is flooding itsself. what would cause this becides a leaky float (ckecked it).

sounds like the needle and seat are worn in your carb, or simply a sticking float. When you crank over your engine, the fuel pump seems to send fuel to a carb that isn't regulating fuel for idle speed, probably more like wide open. Wide open fuel flow with idle air flow equals "bog and flood."
