well i think i now have a hole in a piston i was running her pretty good and she died on me and it took 10 mins to get her restarted but she sounded really funny so i limped her home 3 blocks and when i got home i started pulling plug wires and found out that the cyclinder closest to the clutch side was dead so i yanked the plug to find this

Before you just throw a new top end together, check the run out on the pto end. I had a bearing go out on mine and it ended up throwing the crank out and tearing up the seal...leading to that exact same thing. Just something to check out.
