Idling Problems 95 RXL 650

Postby Grambo » January 20th, 2006, 4:45 am

Was wondering if anyone could help me out. I just purchased a used 95 RXL 650 EFI. Runs amazing. Cold starts on second pull everytime. However, once it is warmed up, it won't stay at idle. If I am riding and I stop, it stalls out and I have to hold the throttle wide open in order to start it again. Anyone have a suggestion???

Possible air leak somewhere, in the crank seals or intake boots maybe.

take a can of starting ether and when it is running spray it on your crank PTO seal if it is leaking it will combust.or i think your induction is messed up possible reed valve leak check for cracked reeds

you don't have to use either,WD-40works fine and not as dangerous
NEVER use starting fluid on a 2- cycle engine!! thay will run on wd
and it works well to seal up leaks when testing

Funny, I was talking to a guy from polaris and he said that he has never heard of this problem. Interesting since the same problem is posted all over the internet. Still having problems with no air leaks

Idling Problems 95 RXL 650

It might be to much fuel? maybe try to find out what the pressure (fuel pump) is for idle, then install a fuel regulator? Maybe a plugged fuel filter?
my rxl runs good all time.
but put it in the shop for the night
and if you don't hold the gas to the bar she will not start.Or pull fast so it starts on the first pull.
You might check to see if the batery is weak?
have you ever tried to charge the battery. this might help.
If the battery doesn't have 12 volts machine runs like ****.
Try to put a trickle charger on the battery over night and see if it helps
If there are any problems with the computer the lights on the side of the box will flash. This will give you a code, the answer will then be in the manual or hand book.

Hope you got the manual if you don't i can look at mine and see what might cause it to stall? Mine idles at around 1000-1300 rpms. you might have to adjust the throttle cable
If you have any other questions just ask.

Maybe I can help or maybe I'm out to lunch?
